What is a deductible?

<div><p style="margin-top: 0px;">A deductible is an upfront amount you pay before your plan covers the rest of your bill. Deductibles are offered in medical plans to help reduce your contribution amount.</p><p>You can also choose not to have a deductible. In this case, your plan will cover the bill without you having to make any payment beforehand.</p><p>However, the deductible will be waived for the following items:<br /></p><ul><li><p><p>Major accidents which cause the person covered to be admitted to the ICU for a period longer than 7 days and require a medically necessary surgery, or</p></p></li><li><p><p>Major claims refer to claims that result from illnesses as specified below: </p></p><ul><li><p>Heart attack</p></li><li>Cancer</li><li>Coronary artery by-pass surgery</li><li>Kidney Failure</li><li>Stroke</li></ul></li><li><span>Visits to hospital emergency department and the person covered is classified within red zone (critical zone)</span></li><li><span>Treatment sought at Malaysian government hospitals.</span></li></ul></div>
